Gillian Wearing is an English artist best known for her conceptual art films. She won The Turner Prize in 1997.
Career[]
One of her first films, Sixty Minute Silence, in 1996, depicted many people in police costumes, told to sit still and be entirely silent for an hour, which results in fidgeting. She said it was meant to represent, "authority, restraint and control."
In 2000, her film Drunk, depicted four drunk men wandering around in an art studio. Later in 2001, she filmed Broad Street which showed drunk teenagers losing their inhibitions and insecurities as they become drunker.
